Haley Suzanne Scarnato is one of the millions of hopeful Americans who was screened by a preliminary panel, the dynamic trio, (former pop star Paula Abdul, record producer and bass player Randy Jackson, and producer and manager Simon Cowell) for a chance to go to Hollywood.
Singing the song “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt as a one-minute, a capella, audition piece, Haley Scarnato landed a coveted spot in the Hollywood, where Paula said she had good control of her voice. Randy said Haley’s voice was just okay, but Simon’s comment was Scarnato sounded like “a bit cabaret”.
In Hollywood, Haley Scarnato sang the song “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Celine Dion. Haley impressed Simon right there and then, securing her chance to go to the next level.
Haley Scarnato was voted through the top 40, then finally through the top 24.
Then on March 8, 2007, Haley Scarnato was voted through to the top 12 over her roommate, Sabrina Sloan.
Haley Scarnato was the 8th place finalist in the American Idol, Season 6.
